Gemfields Sponsors Retail Jeweller India Awards

Gemfields sponsored the sixth annual Retail Jeweller India Awards this year, which was held on August 22, 2010. The awards spanned 20 categories and honored some of the best, most innovative and ingenious efforts in jewelry design and marketing. This year a new  category was introduced – The Jewellery Style Icon of the Year Award — and  went to  Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone who accepted her award wearing a spectacular set of Gemfields Zambian emeralds designed by Pihu Gems.

“The Retail Jeweller India Awards 2010 aims to create an opportunity for retailers to celebrate creative and business success in various segments of jewellery retailing such as product design, marketing and retail concepts, irrespective of their business size and commercial success,” said Soma Bhatta, editor and director of The Retail Jeweller magazine.

Ian Harebottle, the chief executive of Gemfields, said that given the strength and the phenomenal rate of growth evident within India’s gem and jewelry market, it was with great pride  Gemfields partnered with leading industry stakeholders to recognize outstanding work.
